What happens to a recording after you upload it

People hear “the file is deleted” and stop thinking. People hear “the cloud” and assume a permanent archive. Neither is precise enough.

What this site actually does

The uploaded audio or video is kept long enough to transcribe and, if needed, cut or mute clips. It is not stored as a media library. Temporary processing files are removed by the cleanup system. Text results stay on the job page under your account history rules. Free accounts keep a short history. Toolkit clips last only while that temporary storage is still there.

That is the product rule. It is not a promise about every computer the file touches on your side.

What you should still do

• Do not upload from a shared browser you do not control.
• Do not upload a recording you are not allowed to have.
• Download the clips you must keep. They will not wait in a vault.
• Mute names before you share a file with a wider group.

Swear and name mute and Redact-and-share pack exist because sharing is a different decision from processing.

Accounts and history

A guest can process one file. A registered account gets a daily limit. Transcript file downloads need a verified email. Open Account after you log in to see what is stored for you.

If you need a written agreement for a regulated archive, contact the site and keep your own copy of the original. This page is the product rule, not a law-firm opinion.
