How to transcribe a meeting recording you already have
2 September 2026

Most meeting products want to join the calendar. This site does not. You record on your side, then upload the file. That is slower at the start and cleaner later: you choose what leaves the room.
Get one file you can actually upload
Export a local recording from Zoom, Teams, or Meet, or use a phone on the table. Prefer one mixed audio file over a zip of twelve chat downloads. Video as MP4, MOV, or WEBM. Audio as MP3, M4A, or WAV.
If two people sat far from the laptop, the far voice will be thin. Move the recorder next time. Do not expect the transcript to invent a speaker who was never audible.
Transcribe before any write-up
On the home page, upload from your device. The first real output is a timestamped transcript. Summaries, chapters, action items, and chat run only after that exists. If nothing usable was heard, the job stops. A fluent paragraph about a silent file would be a lie.
Read the distrustful parts first
Open the stretch where money, dates, or “we will” appeared. Fix a name in your own notes if speech-to-text missed it. Use chapters to skip the warmup. Treat action items and decisions as a filter of speech, not a project plan. If those lists are empty, the meeting may not have decided anything.
Need one specialized job after that? Promise ledger for commitments, Keep only N minutes for a briefing people will play. Those pages want the same kind of file. They are not a second bot.
What this will not do
It will not caption the call live. It will not label every speaker perfectly in a crowded room. It will not join next week’s invite. Keep the original export. The site is not your archive.
