How to make a quiz from a class recording

Listening is not the same as checking what you learned. A lecture file that nobody reopens is a souvenir.

Questions that only that file can answer

Quiz from this recording drafts questions from the class recording. Each item points to the moment in the lesson. Students can take the quiz on the site. A missed answer can jump back to the source.

Example: Thursday’s lecture becomes Friday’s short quiz, with every item tied to the recording.

Why this is different from a generic quiz generator

A generic generator writes from a topic name. This one is not allowed to ask what the file did not say. If the lecture never defined “osmosis,” that word should not appear as if it did. That is the same honesty as the rest of Spoken Record: no invented speech.

Teachers and students

Teachers upload the class file and edit the draft. Students use it to study. If you are studying alone, studying from a recorded lecture covers a full pass: transcript first, then chapters, then a quiz.

Not an exam board

This is not a standardized test and not a gradebook. It will miss nuance if the transcript missed a formula said too fast. Check items that hinge on a number.

Question coverage map is the other direction: you already have questions, and you want to know if the recording answered them. Use that for orals. Use this quiz when the recording itself should write the questions.

Edit anything that hinges on a number or a name before students see it. A miss that jumps to the wrong minute trains the wrong memory.
